A TREE'S DIARY

I sprouted out into the open world with the first rays of sun caressing me,

My tiny leaves were rocked by the gentle breeze and I was bathed by the morning dew.

I looked around to see how colourful and bright the world was around me,

My arms reached out towards the vastness of space and reached out to touch the blue sky.

Flowers of rainbow colours danced in the gentle soothing breeze,

Bees hummed and birds sang their song that  made me sway in harmony.

I entered my youth, fast and strong, towering over beings smaller than me,

I was admired for my flowers and fruit that were the best that one had ever seen.

.

Little children came to play on my branches and climbed my mighty arms,

They chuckled and ran all around me and whispered their secrets into me.

Years rolled and seasons changed and I saw less of the children now,

I missed their mischievous smiles and longed to cradle them in my arms.

One fine day the ‘grown up’ children came to say their garden adieu,

They wanted to create mansions of their own and ordered to tow us all down.

How can they do this to me? I thought they were all my very own,

The ‘grown up’ children gleamed as I took my last bow and the saw cut through me…All their innocence lost!
